The Maggie Valley Moonlight Race, a race held for 29 years and one that drew runners from all over, has been cancelled. That sucks. How can such a popular race not have sponsorship? From the Maggie Valley Moonlight Race web site:

Maggie Valley, N.C. The Board of the Maggie Valley Moonlight Race, Inc made the difficult decision on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 to postpone the 2008 Maggie Valley Moonlight Race, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2008, which would have been the 30th running of the race. Runners have traveled from all over the United States (as well as internationally) over the years to participate in the race. Facing an increasing budget and with no contracted sponsors as of April 30, 2008, the volunteer community-based made the decision to postpone this year’s race. The Board looks forward to holding the 30th running in the future, and making it the celebration it deserves. If you have already submitted your registration to active.com or have mailed it to the post office box, please know that your money will be refunded to you.
