Go to the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands at the Ashvegas Civic Center. Shop early for Christmas presents.

Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. Saturday will be better than Sunday, weather wise.

Eat lox and bagels on Sunday with the local Jewish Community at the Hard Lox Cafe event next to the Grove Arcade.

Make beautiful music with the hippies at the Lake Eden Arts Festival. They’ve got a wonderfully eclectic musical line-up this year.

Get an early prediction on this winter’s weather by driving on up to Banner Elk for the annual
Woolly Worm Festival. The festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Woolly Worm races start shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday’s winning worm’s colors are used to predict weather for the coming winter.
