Mike Healy, an owner of Lexington Avenue Brewery in downtown Asheville, recently bought 1.4 acres of land at 834 Riverside Drive for $500,000, according to property records. Word on the street is that there are no immediate plans for development, simply an investment buy for the time being.

Pre-recession, there was a plan to build condos/apartments on that riverside property. The plan fell through and the vacant lot next to the Grainger building has remained vacant.

The northern portion of Riverside Drive right on the border with the town limits of Woodfin has received other attention from new property owners. Back in April, an ownership group bought two big warehouses nearby at 750 Riverside Drive for $2.2 million. The plan is to fix up the warehouses and open up a wood/furniture design shop, a glassblowing studio and create space for other artists to move into.

Can we please have something other than another brewery?
    This is getting ridiculous.

You are so right, getting more breweries is ridiculous, like the post above, it needs a restaurant or a hotel, this is ridiculous.
