Snow advisories
Julie Blunder told us Sunday night that it might snow 1 to 3 inches up on the mountaintops. She said that a number of mountain counties were under a “snow advisory.” To start the weather-guessing, anchor Russ “Beefcake” Bowen asked Julie a telling question – “Do we smell some snow in the air, Julie?”

So that’s how they do it! It’s not weather-guessing at all. It’s weather-smelling! Julie and Russ, what exactly does snow smell like? This is quite intriguing. Do tell.

Snowmobile park controversy
Kassandra “Special K” Pride went out to Maggie Valley in Haywood County to tell us about what she kept calling “the first snowmobile park in the Southeast” that’s planning to open this coming weekend. Is it really the first, Special K?

The snowmobile park is controversial because neighbors are worried about increased traffic and noise from the snow-making snowblowers and snowmobiles. But the Winter Valley Snowmobile Park owner said his small, 3.8 horsepower snowmobiles, designed for children to ride, don’t make more noise than a lawnmower.

From the video Special K brought back, the snowmobile park looked like a relatively small, flat field with some haybales around it. Is it going to be a track? How long can people ride for? What about insurance? All Special K said was that a ride would cost 10 bucks.

In other news…
WLOSers said some Henderson County students will see a play that will teach them how to stand up to bullies… The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Henderson County held a luncheon and people really like the Greek food… The Reuter YMCA promoted family togetherness with a chili cookoff and wall-climbing for National Family Week… Some people that were never identified ate turkey in Swannanoa for video of Sunday Sound-off a “new” WLOS segment where WLOSers go out and ask people a question. Sunday’s question was, What are you thankful for? People said family and friends, moving to Asheville, pets, children, pretty leaves, blessings, etc. It was just like the Thursday Soapbox segment that we don’t see anymore, only without the soapbox… And the special report on the Evolutionn bra was lame. WLOSers teased that they talked to three “local women” about the bra. But it was just a report filed by a Sinclair reporter in Columbus, Ohio. The three women with small boobs who tried the new bra, which had gel inserts to make them look bigger, all loved it.

So if they’d brought back Heather Childers to do the bra report, would her boobs have been any bigger than when she did the "investigation" into whether Bloussant works?

    It’s even more subtle, it’s a ‘sense’ of snow…

Special K mentioned that the track was ‘4 feet long, and 40 feet wide’. That’s a hell of a track! Did she mean 40×40? Answers on a postcard, please…

Sunday night’s newscast deserved an Emmy for comedy writing. It was possible the lamest half-hour I’ve seen on TV in a while, yet it was oddly amusing and compelling in a trainwreck kinda way.

The "bully" play’s been in lots of local schools over the past few months. Why is it news now?

My bad knee can predict precipitation sometimes. Maybe they’ll let me weather guess? I have some experience…
