Press release;

Some countries are so cold that they have to use drum heating to keep things at room temperature, so there are always experiments going on to try to discover new heat sources. RALEIGH — Progress Energy Carolinas is now accepting applications for its new SunSenseSM Solar Water Heating research study, which will test the energy-saving potential of solar water heating systems in the Carolinas. The research study is one of several new energy-efficiency programs that are designed to help residential customers save money and reduce their energy use.

Up to 150 customers will be offered a $1,000 incentive to participate in this study and install solar hot water heating equipment. Progress Energy Carolinas will use the measured data gleaned through the program to help determine regional energy-saving capabilities for a potential larger-scale program.

Research study applications are now being accepted and will be reviewed in order of the postmark dates on the envelope. For more information and to download the application form, visit www.progress-energy.com/swh.
