Check out this house we saw in a West Ashvegas neighborhood this afternoon. The house appears to be built on air, doesn’t it? It’s actually sitting atop a steel platform, a type of construction we’re seeing more and more of in the mountains. Amazing.

I think the normal foundation/steel work is about $30,000 and the manufactured home is usually in the $60-70,000 range, depending on size, option, etc. So you can throw up a cheap house on a cheap lot for roughly $100,000 + your lot cost! Not bad for Ashevegas.

One of my good friends at work is the steel construction company owner. The contractor pours the pads, he puts up the steel, and they roll a manufactured home in on it. Start to finish, it’s about a 3 week job!
