The Hendersonville paper has the story:

MILLS RIVER — Plans for a new home for industry are in the works with a proposed industrial park site on 265 acres in Mills River.

Landowner Vaughn Fitzpatrick agreed to allow his property to be zoned for industrial uses and requested the property be annexed into Mills River in December by the Mills River Town Council, said Andrew Tate, director of the Henderson County partnership for economic development. The property is located on Fanning Bridge Road, in between Broadpoint Industrial Park and Asheville Regional Airport on the east side of the French Broad River.

“It’s significant because the truth of it is it is extremely difficult to find large parcels of land for industrial development in Western North Carolina period, and I think the fact that Henderson County now has this site in its inventory of available properties is tremendous, no question about it,” he said. “The bottom line is you are wasting your time on marketing efforts if you don’t have a place to put them (industries) when they get here.”
