NO Vegetarian chicken options….LAME
If Rocky’s Hot Chicken shack can carry vegetarian/ meatless chicken this place should too! Its Asheville…CMON
Eat elsewhere.
Do you go to the Thirsty Monk and complain about a lack of non-alcoholic beer? Can I go to Laughing Seed and demand a meatball on my pasta? How about going to Red Lobster and ordering a Big Mac?
Excellent.
actually, they have a beet burger – which is delightful on a waffle. I agree veg options should be offered in such a progressive town
NO Vegetarian meat options…..so lame.
Hmm vegetarian meat. Interesting. This is soul food man. If you want vegetarian, go to Rosetta’s or the Laughing seed. Not every restaurant has to accomodate you. Or, slap a dallup of of whatever congealed shit you have at the house on the waffle and call it a fuckin day! Kind of refreshing to see a place that doesnt feel that they have to cater to everybody. Eat there or don’t. But quit your lame ass bitching.
This is soul food at its roots but what it is today is a trend for wannabe foodies. A meatless ‘chicken’ option would be good.
(also quit your own ‘lame ass’ bitching. complaining about people complaining…is still complaining.)
A meatless “chicken” option would be good. Why? Because you say so? There are plenty of places around town to eat tofu and tempeh. Perhaps these folks don’t want to be one of those places. They shouldn’t be called lame for doing it THEIR way, in THEIR restaurant, that was built with THEIR money. Not every restaurant in this town has to offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. And if their food is good and provides good value to their patrons, they don’t have to. They will have plenty of business. Sit in the garden and munch on that!
Touchy – someone is still angry from that time last year when a vegan accidentally spilled her organic free-range kale/carrot smoothie all over his brand new “America – Back-to-Back World Champs!” t-shirt…
Yeah Vegans, go sit in the back of the bus!
Or better yet, how about a separate (but equal) counter for them, like back in the good old days.
Big Al- I don’t care where vegetarians and vegans sit, or eat. I just get tired of militant shrub humpers who get stupid whenever a restaurant opens that doesn’t cater to, or even acknowledge, their lifestyle and food choices. If you don’t like the menu, shut your pie hole and vote with your wallet.
“If you don’t like the menu, shut your pie hole and vote with your wallet.”
We do that quite often, Harry. Much more often than we post in forums about it. I’m guessing that GetReal was one of you, just being sarcastic, and you just didn’t recognize it.
But it gave you a thread of an excuse to be defensive and decry the “vegan menace” in public, so there’s that.
I hate when the odor of tofu contaminates my chicken.
chicken & waffles is a tradition that started in big-city blues scenes more than half a century ago. musicians who played all night were hungry before going to bed at dawn & they wanted a meal that combined the best of supper & breakfast.
Harry: Touche’!
A sign out front might be nice too… Or if there is one, maybe a larger one in a better place.
I’m sure it’s coming
Why are “chicken and waffles” a thing? It sounds like what you’d eat in the trailer park when you’re out of everything else and the food stamps don’t kick in until the next day.
Disclaimer: I grew up in a trailer, so I know that of which I speak.
If they have a good recipe for fried chicken, go try the chicken and waffles. You’ll then know why it’s a thing. If they bake or broil the chicken, skip it all together, because that ISN’T a thing.
Ok, so you go for the fried chicken, then? Why the waffles? If you have a good fried chicken recipe, why not serve them with some kind of potato, like a normal person?
Now I’m not really qualified to critique food like Stu Fuckin Helms, but it’s the crunchy, salty goodness of a good fucking fried chicken recipe, coupled with the sweetness of the waffle and syrup. And yes, you CAN fuck up chicken and waffles. How? By putting some baked piece of shit bird on the plate. I first tried the dish at Glady Knight’s place in Atlanta. I was hooked.
And there ain’t nothin wrong with fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Of course you knew that already, you silly fuck. LOL
HAHA!
Stu? Is that you? WTF?!?!
I had the fired chicken breast & mashed potato. Hubby had the habanero chicken & a sweet potato waffle, w e were very happy with both meals. Very reasonably priced.
There’s Hendrick’s on the shelf, too!
Just curious. Ate there the other day. It was good. and the space is fantastic. but the giant white walls look a little barren, as if they haven’t moved in yet. Any idea if there plans to show off artwork on the walls or anything? Like I said, the space is great. its just a lot of white!
