Pack's Tavern

From Tony Kiss, the Beer Guy over at the Asheville Citizen-Times, on the one-year anniversary of Pack’s Tavern. Let’s not forget that the original proposal was to turn the old building in to condos right there on the park after a shady land deal:

The old Hayes and Hopson Building next to City Hall has been a landmark since the early 20th century. In the 1970s and ’80s, it was home to the beloved Bill Stanley’s Bluegrass and Barbecue restaurant. But since the tavern opened there last April, it’s hard to think of it as anything other than Pack’s.

Tom Israel, Stewart Coleman and the crew deserve a big cheer for making this an Asheville hot spot.

Pack’s is hosting a first anniversary party April 14 with a cask of Uncle Teddy’s Bitter from Victory Brewing. On April 16, there’s a patio oyster roast party. These are parties to put on your calendar.
