Press release:

APD to participate in ‘Operation Pill Crusher’

ASHEVILLE – The Asheville Police Department, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, will be at the following Ingles grocery store locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 18 to accept the voluntary disposal of old, unused and expired prescription medications:

Ingles, 915 Merrimon Ave.

Ingles, 7 New Leicester Highway

Ingles, 29 Tunnel Road

The improper disposal of unused medications by flushing them or pouring them down the drain may be harmful to fish, wildlife and their habitats. Furthermore, when unused medicines are left in homes, they are too easily accessible for teens to use illicitly, or for younger children to take accidentally.

We urge the community to take advantage of this safe means of disposal.
