I just tooled by the Citgo/Quick stop near my house (just past beaver lake north on merrimon) and there was a line of about 12-15 cars. I pulled up and asked Ernie if they actually HAD gas – turns out these folks are just waiting.
He advised they are getting a delivery each day. They expect one today, but no ETA.
Bryan, that’s great. I wish I could do that. I sometimes drive 200 or more miles a day for work.
can’t help it… it pays the bills… and the bill
Well I have 1/2 tank of gas in my Ford Ranger. I’m doing OK, I’m driving slower these days and I no longer care about them damn tailgaters on my six, they can go around!
Among other things they say driving slower may help save fuel, every little bit helps.
Also tire pressure is another factor, I went and got Nitrogen put in my tires. They say it’s better than regular air in many ways. I do notice a small difference in handling and fuel economy, as I said every little bit helps.
and of course proper maintenance of your automobile helps to.
We are keeping less than 1/4 tank in the car. We are able to bus, bike, and car pool to work. There are only 2 or 3 times a month that we actually "need" to drive for the work day. It has taken a few years, but we have actively developed a living habits that allow us to use less than a tank a month. If everyone/household just spent some time thinking about it they could significantly reduce how much gas they use. Bus passes are $15/month and $120/year. See if your employer will pay for it. I good bike is cheap. THe one I ride to work everyday cost only $450. THink about that compared to the 8 year old 30/mpg car that we got for $13k or the average persons SUV that is well over $25k guzzling gas at a rate of 24 or less MPG.
