Open thread, and questions for Asheville denizens

I’ve got a couple of questions for you. Consider this an open thread, though.

First, are there more homeless people downtown than, say, six months ago?

Second, if you’re a small business owner, how are you coping with the economic downturn?

I would agree that there does seem a larger number of homeless people, although I should note that I only recently started walking around downtown and using public transit more. There was a fight in the street in front of Pack Library yesterday afternoon around four thirty.
