I love them both, but for now, Highland Brewing is closer to my house so they win. 🙂 Plus I too, love the Cold Mountain.

Without getting into specifics, as I'm a little familiar with both, it is my understanding that Pisgah's sales team has simply out-husseled Highland in the local market for the past few years. Highland is no longer top dog in the house they built, and it seems to me they have basically copied a lot of what Pisgah has done in an effort to remain vital locally… Both are basically trying to be the biggest fish in the little pond.

I think "pissing contest" is not the proper way to put it. That sort of implies there is some ill will between the two and I doubt that is the case, but whatever…

I do think that competition is a good thing and I hope these 2 establishments try to one-up each other all year long (whether that is consciously what is happening or not). As a music lover (as a town of music lovers!) I think we should all be so lucky as to enjoy the fruits of a little competition between local beer purveyors/music venues!

The real question is, where the heck can I find more Cold Mountain ale? C'mon man!

Ricky, are you referencing the addition of Highland's tasting room and Pisgah's outdoor stage? You think each is trying to out-do the other?
