Story from Tony Kiss, aka the Beer Guy:

ASHEVILLE — Adam Reinke spent hours on Wednesday trying to buy online tickets to Asheville’s Brewgrass craft beer festival, but at the end of the day, he was empty-handed.

“It was awful and amusing at the same time,” said Reinke. “I tried for 3 1/2 hours and got nowhere. I went home, and it was eating at me, and I tried again and it never went through. My wife tried for five hours.”

The same story played out many times on Wednesday during a mad online meltdown to buy tickets to the wildly popular Brewgrass, happening Sept. 17 at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. On Thursday, festival producers were sorting through computer records to determine just how many tickets were actually sold and how to avoid such a problem in the future.

To avoid overselling the festival, Brewgrass has canceled plans to offer more tickets to the festival on Monday.
