All kidding aside, I loved that building, and its sign, and wish I had eaten there before they shut down! It was on my to-do list when I came to town next! Urbanspoon says there are three other locations in town; have they all closed as well?

Guido — I guess irony really is dead.

I never said I had anything against those places, just that I found the presence of the Hot Dog King in their midst amusing.

But I guess diversity isn't really your thing, huh?

Asheville is dead to me now.

    This is worse than Vincent's.

My husband and I have a running joke about him taking me on a date to the Hot Dog King. We actually did that about once a year. Even once for my birthday. It was a hoot. I'll miss their slaw dogs. "Now serving all beef hot dogs" the sign said – wonder what they used to be?

We will miss it – one of the last old downtown institutions. Now we'll have to have our Hot Dog King dates in Fairview – not the same.

RE: D(i)RT Ever heard of moving elsewhere? If Vegans, Hippies, Good beer ain't yo thing , Hoss. May I suggest a town that fits you narrow needs? Henderdonville, USSA. Hendersonville is: void of any contemporary culture, no "Trendy" Microbreweries, or Art Galleries there. Nosiree Bob. Hell, I'llhelp you move out of this Trippin' Hippy Culture of a town. Hell, i'd do it Pro Bono (for Hendersonvill-ites, that means "Free.") Good luck on your way out ofdodge, hoss!

I will sorely miss the Hot Dog King. Not that I ever ate there, just that I always got a big kick out of seeing this rather downscale place for confirmed carnivores amidst all the trendy art galleries, microbreweries and vegan hangouts.
