Everyone noticed that Barack Obama stumbled over the words while taking his oath of office, and I’ve just figured out what happened — Chief Justice John Roberts, in administering the oath, messed up the words, which messed up Obama.

Here’s the oath:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Roberts told Obama to say, “I will execute the office of President of the United States faithfully.” Roberts, in moving the word “faithfully,” had Obama stumped for a second. He recovered, and said what Roberts said.

But let the conspiracy theories begin: since Obama didn’t say the oath correctly, does that mean he’s not really president?

    Mr. Pig:

Get over yourself. Do you think Mr. Obama purposely wanted them to stumble through this? What a stupid thought.

Just hang up the negativity, please. You don’t have to like him, but please, can we all work together, as Mr. Obama suggested? Did you not ,listen to anything anyone said during the ceremony? From the poem to the benediction to the beautiful music of the Queen of Soul, we have been encouraged to look ahead with optimism, to roll up our sleeves, to join together for the common good. Please don’t tell me that you and your buddies will continue to sit in the corner and sulk.

Get over it!! And get over yourself! Think of others for a change. Think about how we can build a better country — and a better world — for generations to come.

Oh, piggywig, what the video shows is that Roberts paused long enough to trigger Obama. That’s what happens when a conservative decides to wing it instead of having the constitution printed out in front of him. As the last eight years proved. And you’ve gotta love those Supreme Court textualists at work.

The Twentieth Amendment provides for an automatic succession, specifically Section 1.
The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.

Our ceremony is just a formality for the citizens of America.
My favorite part was the beautiful music performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, clarinetist Anthony McGill, and pianist Gabriella Montero. Their ode to Mr. Obama, a piece created by famed "Star Wars" composer John Williams was one of the highlights of the ceremony in my opinion.

Watch it again…Obama speaks while Roberts is speaking, and that starts the cascade of failures.

Both erred. The Chosen One, Barack Hussein Obama erred first.

It’s on video, so no amount of liberal spin can change that.

Chief Justice Roberts was getting some payback since Obama voted against his confirmation.

From what I heard on MSNBC, the oath is just a formality. Apparently he became president at exactly Noon regardless of whether or not he took the oath.

I’m glad you cleared that up. At first I thought it was nerves, but Obama didn’t seem nervous at all. OH! And thanks for the plug(s)! The event tonight at The Peel is going to be PACKED! Tickets are going fast.
