Lou Anne Rhodes, the garden manager at the popular Sunny Point Cafe in West Asheville, has died, according to a post on the restaurant’s website.

We are saddened to report that our beloved friend and garden manager, Lou Anne, died on 3/14/2012 after a long and arduous illness.

Our beautiful garden is a daily reminder of Lou Anne’s direct connection to nature and her passion for life.

We will love and miss her forever.

A garden dedication ceremony will take place later this spring.

The lush garden was a source for much of delicious food served up at Sunny Point. It provided tomatoes, hot peppers, pole beans, squash and zucchini, as well as squash blossoms, beets, lettuce, carrots, radishes and onions. It was also a point of pride for the neighborhood. Southern Living Magazine visited the glorious garden last summer.
