Saw Frank Kracher at the Brewgrass Festival yesterday – can’t believe he’s back in town and not on TV! He was so much better than Blunt or the other Frank guy. what are they thinking?
bigger change than from b/w to color or from film to tape?
short sight is a tv hallmark
WLOS is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting which is in really bad financial condition. I don’t believe they spent anywhere near $4 million on the new set and cameras for WLOS alone. Surely, they purchased all of this as a group since many of their other tv stations have already gone HD. The new set is a huge improvement, but the local talent does not measure up. Talk about lipstick and makeup on pigs — that applies to most of the on-air personalities at WLOS.
They should try to get Frank Kracher back on the anchor desk. That couldn’t hurt in the standards department. I hear he has returned to Asheville.
When will WLOS get some balls and get rid of the tired old people who make watching unbearable. I don’t have to name names, (morning, some reporters, maybe an evening)
I agree. There are some talent that just aren’t up to the standard they seem to be trying to represet. What can they do about it? I like the set a lot, I do get tired of hearing too "futuristic". Maybe from 10 years ago, however that future is now, so the set looks curret not futuristic.
Because of the professional look of the set, it really shows how bad everything else is. The producing, the stories, the talent….they need to realize that their newscasts now need to be set to a higher standard or else it will look rediculous.
Finally watching the HD feed tonight, and it does indeed look good. But I must say that I’m not crazy about the way they’ve been editing the recorded segments lately, with man-on-the-street quips edited into the middle of the reporters’ sentences. It’s all a bit too frenetic.
Content, context and coverage would be cool.
I ain’t impressed with the pretty colors. I been there in reality.
Pretty is as pretty does. What do you people have to offer to improve on or help create a sense of community?
THAT would impress me.
Impress me.
