5Point Film Festival has selected Asheville as its community to launch a regional concert style film festival in the Southeast on August 14-15 at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.

“After spending time in the Asheville community and working with the City of Asheville, we were thrilled to pick this community as our future home for the Southeast Region.” Said Sarah Wood, Executive Director of 5Point Film.

“Asheville is a vibrant, outdoor, forward thinking community that matches the ethos of 5Point, and we hope to celebrate the Southeast region 5Point style.”

5Point Film Festival is in its eighth season producing a 4-day Festival in Carbondale Colorado at the end of April each year. In an effort to expand their mission of inspiring adventure and storytelling of all kinds, the nonprofit created a unique 5Point style show in each region, rather than bring the Carbondale show on a tour. By creating regional hubs across the country, 5Point will inspire other communities and celebrate their local filmmakers, athletes and artists, like 5Point has been doing to sell out crowds for the Rockies region. Other regional festival hubs in the works are Somerville, MA, Bellingham, WA, and Minneapolis, MN.

The event is scheduled for August 14 + 15, 2015 at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, New Mountain Amphitheater and various spaces around the city. 5Point works with local outdoor retailers, bike shops, and community organizations as well as local artists to showcase the talents of the region and inspire the outdoor communities’ growth. With aspirations to grow into another large 4-day event like they’ve grown in the Rockies region, 5Point Film Festival is poised to become a great economic driver and attraction for Asheville and has plans to start a local scholarship program much like their Dream Project for the region as well.

As a 501(c)3 non profit organization, 5Point Film Festival is seeking support to help get this Festival off the ground and primed for success in its inaugural year in Asheville. Partnership levels and marketing benefits can be acquired by contacting [email protected].

5Point Film is built on five guiding principles: respect, commitment, humility, purpose and balance. 5Point believes these same principles also form the foundation for individuals who lead lives of adventure and connect all of us who share an elemental passion to explore and expand our boundaries.
