ASHEVILLE, NC — A treasured work of art is protected and made even more attractive when showcased in a striking frame and theAsheville Art Museum is offering more than 125 black metal Nielsen frames for sale at discounted prices in the Museum Shop on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18.

Nielsen Bainbridge is a world leader in the manufacturing of framing products and their frames are known for their sturdy hardware that is easy to disassemble and reassemble. The Museum previously used these frames for exhibitions, but now has transitioned to almost exclusively using wood frames.
“This type of metal frame was popular in the 1970s and 1980s, but we no longer use them at the Museum and we’re trying to make more room for storage,” said Asheville Art Museum Preparator / Registrar Dean Butckovitz about the sale. “Ninety-five percent of these frames are in excellent condition and all of them are available to the public at more than 50 percent of the usual retail price.”
All frames come complete with glass and there will also be a small selection of assorted wood frames available at the Museum Shop both days.
