Asheville’s directional sign project, which went up a few months back and is now literally falling apart, is looking horrible. And the signs are not just downtown. They’re all over Buncombe County.

Here are a couple of photos sent in by loyal readers Sean and Woody. Thanks for these. Hopefully these signs will be cleaned up sooner rather than later.

Are there any signs that are NOT peeling? That would be news.

This is really getting on my nerves. Why aren't they going ahead and taking down the peeling signs so that no one has to see them? Tourists and visitors must think we are lazy.

This is a huge embarrassment for everyone in this area.

These signs are sort of a metaphor for Asheville's government, tourism industry, and overall competence.

If they can be immediately repaired or replaced, then TAKE THEM DOWN…not later…take then down RIGHT NOW!!
