Here’s more from a loyal reader:

Shell at the corner of Haywood Road and I240 was $4.49 a gallon at lunchtime. That’s 50 cents more than this morning, and 80 cents more than yesterday morning. And roy Cooper says we ought not to pay more than 20 cents extra a gallon. What a joke. There’s a station across from McCormick Field where it’s $4.25.

The Shell on Tunnel Rd by the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance. We pulled in at about 6:30, $4.25 for regular. Right as we were pulling out and cars backed up into the street, they came out and changed the price to $4.49.

In Atlanta my mother witnessed, while I was on the phone with her, a grocery store gas station change it’s sign to $5.09 from $3.79. All the other stations in the area were still just under $4.00. I mean really? Talk about gouging.

Some stations are getting gas. The station closest to me just got a new load sometime after lunchtime today. I notice they only got regular unleaded, no plus or premium. They also went from $3.69 to $4.29 for regular, but at least they did get more. And when I passed by there about an hour ago, there was only one person there, so no crazy lines. If I had been insane I would’ve stopped and got one whole gallon to fill the car up 🙂

I saw $3.98 and $3.99 gas along Patton just now (Friday around 4). The Wilco/Hess across from the W Avl Asiana has $3.58 gas but lines that were 8 cars deep. Ten pumps, not TOO long a wait.

I just drove around south Asheville and saw the yocals filling up their buckets with gas. Come on people you created this by rushing out to fill up when you did not need to. If you had filled up when you usually do. That means all of you. There would still be gas. Instead the masses toped off tanks they normally would not and hence the shortage. Doh.

Where is my 55 gallon drum any way? Oh yeah, used it for water since we were supposed to run out of it last June.

Down here on the Hurricane Coast (Florida Panhandle) we had the same rumor yesterday but gas has not increased at all in price today. That’s probably because we have a tough law that will put people in jail for using a panic to gouge customers on necessary supplies during an emergency.

Last night, there wasn’t a drop of gas to be had after everyone filled up based on the rumor. A friend was actually told by a cop that she had better fill up because gas was going up 90 cents last night. Today, we have plenty of gas at the same price as yesterday. If everyone just calms down, this will probably pass in a couple of days.
