Since there’s so much going on in the AVL:

Verve magazine editor Jess McCuan

-Verve in town: Word on the street is that Verve, the stylish all-woman magazine published by Hendersonville-based Planet Zeus Media, has a new Asheville office. The office is apparently on the sixth floor of the Flat Iron building, and will serve as a satellite. Planet Zeus publishes Bold Life, hvillescoop.com and Carolina Home + Garden.

-Food moves: Mountain XpressMackenzie Lunsford has the latest on several fronts. First, Amber Arthur is selling the beloved Izzy’s coffee shop on Lexington Ave. and moving to the Big Apple. Ross and Kristin Britton will be taking over.

Next, Boca restaurant next to Mela on Lexington is about to open. “Anoop Krishnan and partner Markus Procida are opening the new eatery, which will feature American food with a healthy California Tex-Mex bent — ‘ots of peppers, lots of free-range eggs, lots of pancakes — buckwheat pancakes, spelt pancakes, corn pancakes,’ reports Krishnan.

Awesome.

-Simma Down: Speaking of food, Bold Life has a nice story on Simma Down, the Jamaican restaurant down on The Block.

-Zombies in Old Fort: The McDowell News reports that a horror film is set to be shot this weekend at an Old Fort campground:

The movie will be a production of Sik and Twisted Films. George Lunsford of Asheville is the co-owner of the production company and does the producing, casting and acting. His partner is Dave Boyer of Winston-Salem, who is the main owner of Sik and Twisted Films.

“This will be our first feature film,” said Lunsford.

What is certain is that the movie will be about zombies. Lunsford said they have already got some people to be zombies for the picture but more people will be needed to play zombies and victims.

-Olmstead film to premiere: From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

Pack Square Conservancy is hosting the Asheville premiere of a new documentary about Frederick Law Olmsted — the landscape architect who designed the Biltmore Estate, as well as New York’s Central Park — with an event beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

-Happy Birthday Rev. Graham: From the Associated Press: “The Rev. Billy Graham will be 92 years old on Sunday, but his grandson says the legendary evangelist is healthier now than he’s been in recent years.”
