In still more beer news, The Beer Guy tells me that there’s a little battle brewing over the name ‘Pisgah’ on the local beer scene.

As you know, Pisgah Brewing Co. is located out in Black Mountain. One of its most popular beers is the Pisgah Pale Ale.

But Asheville Pizza and Brewing Co., which has been around for quite a bit longer than Pisgah Brewing, also has a Pisgah Pale on its list of offerings. The Beer Guy says Asheville Brewing made its Pisgah Pale several years ago, stopped, and started again. So we have two separate companies making a beer with the same name.

And there’s apparently a dispute over who actually possesses the rights to the name “Pisgah Brewing,” according to the Beer Guy. Both sides say they have the rights.

Not sure how this will be settled. Over a beer, perhaps?

Look for Asheville Pizza to be sued in Federal District court by Pisgah Brewing Company for brand infringement. How can someone (Doug R.) live so long in such a cool town and do something so mean to another brewer?
