If this event is successful, and it looks like it will be, I'm sure the Moog Foundation will be taken care of in the future.
I caught wind about this, too. From what I have heard, the $1 donation per ticket sold is a bit of a slap in the face to an organization that allowed the use of the Moog name, image and legacy to be used as a promotional platform for this festival, only to be given a measly dollar per $150 ticket sold. Either way, I'm going to have a blast, just hope politics doesn't keep it from happening next year…
AC Ent paid to license the festival, gives it a national profile and knockout lineup, AND donates extra money to the Foundation on top, and the Foundation is unhappy? Can't say I'm convinced there's real discord; sure sounds like someone trying to make trouble where llittle or none exists.
Full disclosure: I am employed by a company promoting Moogfest. As a fan of both the foundation and the music of the festival, I hope there's no ill will.
Better enjoy this festival while we can – from what I've heard, the Moog Foundation is so upset at the way AC Entertainment has handled the percentage of ticket sales going back into the foundation that they're basically boycotting the entire event, and are not planning on having it next year if changes aren't made…
