Mikulik returns to coach the Asheville Tourists

ASHEVILLE, NC – Candler resident Joe Mikulik is headed for home yet again in 2011. For the 12th consecutive season, Mikulik will manage the Asheville Tourists, joining hitting coach Lenn Sakata, pitching coach Joey Eischen and trainer Billy Whitehead.

Mikulik has more victories than any other manager in Asheville history, and enters the 2011 season with a 781-738 record as the Tourists’ skipper. The Texas native earned South Atlantic League all-star honors while playing for Asheville in 1985 and has since managed in the All-Star Game on four occasions. Mikulik is a three-time SAL Manager of the Year (2001, 2007, 2008), with more than 50 of his former players having reached the major leagues.
