Merry Wine Market gets ‘Southern Living’ write-up

Loyal Ashvegas reader Mary writes to tell me that the couple who owns the Merry Wine Market (where Mary works) had a great write-up in the December issue of Southern Living. She wants folks to know about how great the shop and its owners are:

Yep, there are six pages of Scott & Katherine (Counce) along with daughter, Lila, and son, Rip. It depicted their “Christmas celebration” complete with home decorations (they live in Cheshire in Blk Mtn.) and their holiday meal.

As well as being a wine expert, Katherine is a chef (graduate of the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, NY) and later worked as a chef and wine expert with Kevin Zaraly & Charlie Parker in Manhattan and then on to Europe where she worked in France, Switzerland (and I forget where else) before returning to little ‘ole Black Mtn. She and Scott were featured for her/their Easter dinner in the first issue of WNC Magazine, and the store was included in the current issue. Just credentials — she’s a great person, and the real thing when it comes to the wine and food world!
