Anybody have any details on the water outage on the campus of UNC Asheville? I hear that there’s a problem with the water pipes, and that the school is bringing in and setting up Porta Johns around campus.

What’s going on?

    Water restored this afternoon around 2:30. Pressure so high that when a friend drank from the fountain, water shot 2 feet in the air and knocked his glasses right off.

    From a UNCA email:

    Latest update: November 20, 11am

    This morning, flow at the main water line feeding campus was disrupted and there is currently a water outage affecting the entire University.

    <SNIP more than anyone wants to know about porta-johns and hand-washing stations.>

    Currently the best estimate for water being restored to campus is approximately 3pm. We will continue to update throughout the day as we have more information and as information changes.

    <END>

    It’s not TOO bad here yet. Bathrooms are very third-world but the cafe was still running with paper plates and plastic forks. I’m sorry for the students who live on campus.
