WLOSers lose
WLOSers lived up to their name Saturday, gettings served during a baseball game to raise money for charity. A bunch of cancer survivors pasted the WLOSers 17 to 4. Ouch. Coach Sheraldo needs to be fired, now. And with your free time, Sheraldo, look into working out like Russ. That T-shirt did you no favors, my friend.
‘Pooch in peril’
Did y’all see the fake breaking news earlier in the week, the Jon “Punnyman” Le story that led the 5 p.m. news one day about a dog that got spooked by a T-storm and ended up stuck in a drainage pipe? Yep, that was the lead story.
The dog, named “Ducky,” apparently dashed into a culvert after running from all the thunder and lightning earlier in the week. What a puss. Anyway, a whole crew of firefighters in the Swannanoa Valley spent three frickin’ hours diggin’ the dumbshit dog out. Is this what your tax dollars are paying for? Yes, it is.
Le couldn’t resist a few “everything’s just ducky” puns and followed the dog all the way to the vet, where the dog doc adminnistered a couple Valium and sent the teevee crew and the dog packing. Give me a frickin’ break. Can’t wait to see what Le comes up with for sweeps.
Civic Center blah blah blah
Every time we hear the words “Ashvegas Civic Center” we cringe. Because we’ve been hearing about the shitty civic center for a decade. And we’ve heard WLOSers drone on and on about the civic center for a decade. And every time, the reporters just take what the latest task force or commission is saying and they report it like it’s news, never questioning it.
Look. Here’s the deal. It doesn’t matter how much “consensus” Ashvegas Councilman Jan Davis and his task force comes to or doesn’t come to. And it doesn’t matter how many different options for civic center construction or renovation the task force comes up with.
It all boils down to this – how they gonna pay for it? WLOSers, ask them that the next time you do a Civic Center. And I’ll go ahead and tell you what the answer is – taxpayers, unless the city gets a deep-pocketed partner like a Bob Ingle or a Jack Cecil in on a deal.
So stop all the breaking news breathless bullshit reporting on the latest civic center breakthrough. There is none until somebody comes up with some major millions to pay for it all. Report on that. OK?
Dam dedication
WLOSers treated a dam dedication at Carriage Park, a fancy-pants development down in Henderson County, as big news. Their angle was about how the damn was built with some rock-filled baskets at a cost of $2 million. So what.
Here’s the story WLOSers didn’t tell – that development has raped a mountain, and the erosion and runoff problems have been horrendous for years. The fake lake created by the damn is basically there to catch all the runoff created by all the steep-slope construction the developer did. There’s also a fake swamp, for runoff from when the fake dam gets too full. Bottom line – it’s an environmental abomination.
Trooper transferred
Remember that N.C. state trooper that got busted by Fletcher P.D. for going like 100 mph in a 45 mph zone recently? Yeah, Kevin Bray. Well, his ass got transferred to Raleigh, and he’s now patrolling the wilds of bumfuck Chatham County. Good. Serves him right.
Gas prices are high
WLOSers told us over and over last week about the “pain at the pump.” Over and over. We got it, OK?
