The Lady Folk showcase at Ambrose West at 8 p.m. on Nov. 21 will feature three Asheville songstresses: from left, Whitney Moore of Queen Bee and the Honeylovers; Jane Kramer; and Christy Barrett of the Christy Lynn Band.

Three of Asheville’s powerhouse female musicians will come together for a night of Americana music during a showcase at Ambrose West music room in West Asheville.

The Lady Folk bill will feature the following: Christy Barrett, of the throwback classic country and old-school rock n’ roll-infused Christy Lynn Band; Whitney Moore of Asheville’s beloved retro swing and hot club jazz outfit, Queen Bee and The Honeylovers; and poetic roots and folk songwriter Jane Kramer. The triple-bill of original music is set for 8 p.m. on Nov. 21 at Ambrose West. Get tickets here.

Barrett, who in addition to writing and performing with The Christy Lynn Band, owns and operates American Vinyl Company in Asheville with her fiancé and bandmate- guitarist Ryan Schilling, put the bill together.

“We were recently talking about how many incredible female artists we have seen or performed with here in Asheville. You can catch a lot of them around town, but we wanted to make a special event around a few of our favorites – the kind of show you can’t miss,” she says.

Kramer agrees, adding that “Now, more than ever, women need to lift each other up.

“Asheville’s growing music scene is wonderful, but can also have the tendency to feel more isolating and competitive as a full-time performer trying to make a living here,” Kramer says.

“I love the idea of teaming up with other female artists that I don’t know very well yet and connecting over our love of music and our command of the stage.”

Concert-goers can expect a full palate of musical flavors. Kramer’s heartrending folk ballads will begin the evening, accented by Megan Leigh Johnson’s classical cello accompanying her acoustic guitar. This is a new performance configuration for Kramer, who will be playing songs from her March, 2019 release, Valley of the Bones along with some newly-penned tunes. Christy Lynn Band will follow with an up-tempo full-band set led by Barret’s velvety smooth, whiskey-soaked vocals and vintage country-tinged originals. The band will play songs from their forthcoming 2019 release, Sweetheart of the Radio. Queen Bee and the Honeylovers in trio formation will close out the evening with their “unabashedly joyful” and contagiously nostalgic swing and jazz with Moore’s playful, effervescent vocals on songs from their 2019 release, Asheville.
