It’s not too early to start thinking about the Asheville Zombie Walk, which is scheduled for Oct. 10.

There are not many details out there right now. Here’s what’s up on the Asheville Zombie Walk’s page on Facebook:

We’re working to find insurance and sponsors. Jumping through the regulatory hoops for the city. All the details are about this year’s event are at www.ashtoberfest.com.

Last year’s event was kind of an unofficial walk through town after the city of Asheville said it required special permits for a big gathering. Back in 2008, the local zombie walkers happened to be shambling through town at the same time that then vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin came to speak at the Asheville Civic Center. The zombies moaned and groaned their disapproval.

Before that, the zombie walk was sort of an unofficial gathering of the undead. The event has definitely grown, and hopefully this year it will be gorier and more glorious than ever.

We zombie-enthusiasts in Boone will be hopping on the World Zombie Day train as well this year! Western NC zombies are the best. I hope all of Asheville's undead have a great time at this year's event. In the off chance that any Asheville folks are around Boone on the 10th, feel free to stop by our WZD Zombie march, search Boone Zombie Mob on facebook for more details.

    Love the blog!
