We’ve all seen the news today – soul legend Isaac Hayes is dead. He was known as a founder of the Memphis soul sound that became synonymous with Stax Records. He had the hit theme song from Shaft and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
Hayes made a stop in Asheville in 2003 to play the Biltmore Estate’s Summer Concert Series. I’ve searched for other Asheville connections, but have yet to find any.
Rest in peace, brother.
