Resolution:
The best I have heard yet. It is not hard to see what really was happening there.
Good luck to all. The ship has water over the deck now so there is no need to jump, just start treading water.
I wish Mrs. Smith Good Luck on her new endeavor! I wonder what it will be like for her to go to a 17,000 circulation daily competing against the News and Observer? I was going to write a list of her accomplishments (not) at the CTimes but when I got to number 11 on a long growing list, I gave up because my fingers got tired.
She lost four long term managers in her first five months at the Ctimes and laid off a couple of more. I guess she thought she could do it herself.
The timing of her departure is not random. As long as she worked at the Ctimes until 12.31.08, she still qualifies for the big year end bonus. Will they replace her? Or, will they promote one of the current managers? Or, does Hammer think that he is qualified to run the sales department?
Women laid off, women in high profile positions leaving the building. Scrooge was right. If it looks like a duck and acts like a duck it isn’t a dog. If Gannett lets him hire a replacement does anyone want to bet he hires a man?
I am full of glee for two reasons: 1) The Ctimes will finally be rid of a controlling, manipulative, callous AD and 2). She caught Hammer off guard. I would have love to have seen the look on his face. He is down to two followers, Stenseth and Hernandez. 2009 is looking better already.
I want to see video of the Ad Dirtector leaving with their tail between their legs.
LOL
Is it also true that the Carter street lot will no longer be leased to the ACT and that the employees will have to pay big bucks for area parking?
"There is allegedly lots of surveillance equipment installed in that building."
Yes. lots of sneaky infrared cameras.
It IS downtown, and Alot of people in and out 24-7.
I heard she is going to a family owned newspaper about 30 miles from Raleigh and that Hammer tried REALLY hard to keep her. Sure!
You know that seems like the trend at the ACT. Does the current publisher not like women in the workplace? Well I am sure it will be discovered out soon enough. There is allegedly lots of surveillance equipment installed in that building.
Well if you hold a hammer up high what usually happens? It falls very hard.
I heard it from a source who has never been wrong. How soon before Gannett sells the Carter Street parking lot and every employee finds a space beside the AC-T building? I wonder if the departure of yet another prominent female from AC-T staff has Randy worried?
That is the best news of the year. No more broken promises. Maybe now they will move what is left of the designers back down stairs where they belong, which is to be one on one with the sales reps. Funny how the numbers in retail advertising correlated with the time they moved the graphic designers upstairs really spiked in the negative. That did not help the situation and if the graphic designers had been left downstairs maybe a few jobs could have been saved.
Good work AD.
The big question is where is she going? Does anyone know?
Confirmed. She’s splitsville.
I hope this is true! My Christmas wish list would be complete
