I’m wondering if BiffSneed did not have a flash player installed on his browser when he went to the site? Because the map is completely interactive, allowing you to zoom in on points of interest and not only lists restaurants, attractions and retail shops, but allows you to click on their location to bring up their exact address and also a link to their website if they have one. I think it’s a great resource for tourists planning their trip to Asheville. And we all know (like it or not) that tourism is one of Asheville’s biggest industries and that many of our businesses rely on it as a major source of income.
I do appeciate Biff Smeed’s comments, however the downtown map does show over 40 locations including restaurants, retail businesses, galleries and attractions.
Due to the generosity of our advertisers hundreds of thousands of visitors and newcomers to Asheville have hopefully had a very enjoyable experience because they have had a printed map to help them find their way around.
Yeah, pretty cool, except the downtown on-line map shows no attractions, restaurants or retail locations (it does note Parking and ATMs), and the Biltmore Village map shows only four of the aforementioned. Apparently, you exist on the map only if you purchase advertising for it. I hate it when publishers do that.
