Here’s a quick primer on how to celebrate Mardi Gras in Asheville this weekend.

The Mardi Gras parade is Sunday. Here are photos from last year. There’s a pre-party at ZaPow with facepainting.

Loyal reader Kelly Denson reports that Isa’s Bistro is “contributing to the party with beads, New Orleans inspired lunch specials, hurricanes and as every Sunday: $3 mimosa and Bloody Marys.”

Don’t forget that you can get whole King Cakes at Short Street and City Bakery.

Asheville Face & Body Art will be at Zapow on Battery Park 12:30-3pm before the parade to provide face painting and body art. They do great work.

The parade is at 3 p.m. and the lineup (parade start) is at Wall Street.

“Mardi” is the correct spelling in Mardi Gras.

The Village Wayside Bar and Grille will be celebrating Fat Tuesday on March the 4th with homemade Perogies and Paczki (punchkees). We are big fans of Mardi Gras and this has been our yearly tradition since we opened in 2009. Come on down to historic Biltmore village and celebrate with us.
