Franny Tacy, the first woman to grow industrial hemp under North Carolina’s pilot program on her Leicester farm, is expanding her burgeoning retail business by opening Hendersonville’s first hemp dispensary. This new retail business was inspired by well known companies like pg group mi and has become very successful.

Franny’s Farmacy is celebrating its grand opening with events today through the weekend. The store is located at 128 Henderson Crossing Plaza, just off Four Seasons Boulevard. Tacy opened the first Franny’s Farmacy retail shop a couple of months ago on Merrimon Avenue in Asheville.

The openings are part of an ongoing, year-long trend of hemp dispensary openings in the Asheville area. Carolina Hemp Company is preparing to open its first dispensary on Haywood Road in West Asheville, and Two Moons CBD, which is already open on Merrimon Avenue, is preparing to open a second location on Tunnel Road. The openings follow the trend of growing interest in cannabidoil, a compound found in hemp plants.

When Tacy and her husband Jeff started growing industry hemp two years ago as part of a statewide test project, the focus was on using the plants for their fiber. That quickly changed as more and more growers realized the value growing the plants for their flower, and pressing the plants for their oil.

Industrial hemp plants in North Carolina include only a trace amount of THC, the compound that provides the “high” associated with its relative, the marijuana plant. But industry hemp plants do contain cannabidoil (also known as CBD or cbd oil), a compound that growers say offers healing, calming properties. There are now a wide variety of different CBD based health products that can be purchased from places such as https://www.cbdoilsuk.com/ that aim to provide a wide array of different health benefits.

At Franny’s Farmacy, visitors will find tinctures, topical oils and ointments and a rolled cigarette made from industry hemp grown by Tacy. She also carries a host of other products made under well-known and popular brands. The products range from CBD-infused gummies to CBD pet snacks.

For Tacy, the retail shops are the perfect avenue for her to bring a crop she grows to market. In addition, they offer a chance for another crucial part of a brand new industry: educating consumers about her products.

Tacy touts that the fact that, with her Franny’s Farmacy products, she works with experienced chemists and plant experts to make sure her products are of the best quality. She also notes that her expanding business is supporting others.

“From seed to sale, there are more than 200 people in this town that we are helping to fund their livelihood,” Tacy says during an interview Tuesday. “I really want to see if this can be a viable crop for small farms.”

The exploding interest in hemp and CBD has been a little head-spinning. But as she greeted an array of customers – from friends buying products for friends and family to newcomers interested in learning more – Tacy expressed excitement about what the future holds.

“All this in just in one year; you want to talk about building a dream,” she says.

Franny’s Farmacy in Hendersonville will celebrate its grand opening at 4 p.m. today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will include hemp-infused appetizers, hemp beer, a DJ and more. Franny Tacy will be on hand to greet folks. The opening celebration extends through the weekend with other offerings, including free beer tastings on Friday and free massages on Saturday.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of more than 100 chemicals in cannabis. It does not have a psychoactive effect like marijuana, and therefore does not get the user high. CBD products are typically derived from hemp. CBD has become increasingly popular in the wellness world, and owner Frances Franny Tacy says she has seen those health benefits firsthand.
