The college basketball season has officially started for me. Last night, I watched the Tar Heels kick some Kentucky butt, and loved it. With star Tyler Hansbrough sitting out because of injury, it was fun to see the new guys get lots of playing time. These guys had flashes of brilliance in the first half, and came out somewhat flat in the second, but hey, it’s early. The Heels are going to be awesome. Final Four or bust.

(One note: I couldn’t find anything about the North Carolina-Kentucky game in my morning newspaper. What’s up with that? The game started at 9 p.m. and was finished before 11 p.m. Has my local newspaper just totally given up?)

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Deon Thompson scored a career-high 20 points to help top-ranked North Carolina beat Kentucky 77-58 on Tuesday night despite playing yet again without national player of the year Tyler Hansbrough.

Wayne Ellington had 16 points for the Tar Heels (2-0), who led by double figures barely 4 minutes into the game and never looked back in a matchup of the winningest programs in men’s college basketball.

North Carolina freshman forward Tyler Zeller is likely gone for the season after undergoing surgery Wednesday to repair a fractured left wrist suffered when he fell attempting a dunk during Tuesday’s win over Kentucky.

Does anyone know what the official verdict is on Tyler Zeller’s wrist? All I have heard is that it is "serious" and that he is not flying to California for the next game.

If the local paper you are referring to is the AC-T – that is because the AC-T sucks! I bought a Sunday paper a couple of weeks ago to check the ACC football standings – which, here at the height of the football season – with virtually every team in the ACC still alive – the standings were nowhere to be found – AMAZING!
Can you say – No More Sunday Paper for You?!

The score was in the micro-print on the inside back page. They just didn’t bother to report on the game. Ridiculous but predictable.
