From the Hooterville paper:

Asaka Japanese Cuisine

There was a public outcry when Asaka Japanese Cuisine closed in May after four years to make way for the new CVS drug store on Four Seasons Boulevard.

But people looking for their Asaka fix can once again indulge their cravings at the restaurant’s new location at 144 Highlands Square Drive near the Hendersonville Super Wal-Mart.

The restaurant opened Monday in a newly remodeled 3,000-square-foot building, said owner Rick Nguyen.

“We have had a lot of our old customers come in,” he said. “We have been running ads in the paper to let people know we are here. We are happy to see our old customers and look forward to seeing new ones.”

Asaka’s menu still features chicken, shrimp, scallops, fish, beef, vegetables and sushi. Items range in price from $4.80 for the vegetable plate to $11.25 for the shrimp and scallops plate with vegetables and rice.

The restaurant’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

The Great American Hot Dog

It’s the lunch rush as people stand in line for hot dogs and sandwiches at the Great American Dog restaurant which opened in Hendersonville on Monday.

The eatery is located at 808 Greenville Highway, next door to the Food Lion grocery store on the south end of town. It is one of two new restaurants that have opened in the area recently.

The Great American Dog franchise in Hendersonville is the first of six stores the men plan to open over the next 14 to 18 months, Hughes said. Stores are planned for Brevard, Asheville, Arden and Greenville, S.C.

China Sea

Another new restaurant in Hendersonville is China Sea, located at the site of the former Tian Tian Hao restaurant at 1250 East Seventh Ave. Tian Tian Hao opened in May 2006, replacing the Ryan’s restaurant which had operated at the location for 10 years before closing in November of 2005.

China Sea opened three weeks ago, said restaurant owner Seng Boun. The Boun family has 20 years of restaurant experience, operating eateries in North Carolina and Tennessee.

China Sea has a buffet that features sushi in addition to hibachi items, Boun said. There is also an ice cream bar and customers can also order off the menu.
