Here’s the press release. This, for me, is the best holiday show in town. It’s not Christmas until I’ve seen this show. I can’t wait to see this year’s version. All of last year’s shows sold out, so get your tickets early at The Magnetic Theatre. This year, the show starts the weekend after Thanksgiving and rolls through Dec. 22.

After multiple years of increasingly popular shows in their home base of Asheville, and coming off a headlining slot at the Wynn Resort Macao’s “Christmas In August Extravaganza,” which saw fans ripping off their clothes and throwing themselves into the ocean out of sheer sketch comedic ecstasy, the Bernstein Family returns!

“This year’s spectacular has already been performed for seventeen dictators, presidents, and prime ministers, three of whom were deceased and exhumed just for the performance, which is to my knowledge a new record for most diplomats exhumed to view a sketch comedy show!” Jimmy Bernstein triumphantly proclaimed in between martinis after a
recent performance.

Starring Tracey Johnston-Crum (recently voted Best Local Actress by in the Mountain Xpress’ annual Best of poll) and Darren Marshall, among other local favorites, the beloved and occasionally tasteless sketch comedy Christmas show will once again return to Asheville, thanks to the award-winning Magnetic Theatre.

“We’re very excited to have the Bernstein’s back,” said producer Chall Gray. “It takes nearly all year to recover from each visit, what with having to revive all of the young men around the theatre that Judy exhausts, clean up after Baby Jesus, and replenish the truckloads of gin and vermouth that it takes to keep Jimmy’s martini glass full. We don’t have time to slack off!”

This year, the Bernstein clan is under the able direction of Katie Anne Towner, Associate Artistic Director and Managing Director of The Magnetic Theatre. “I’m really excited to have some old family members coming back, and a few surprises as well–we mean it when we say that this will be the most spectacular of all spectaculars. That’s why we’re skipping from the 28th straight to the 30th!” she said recently.

Considering that last year the Bernsteins sold out nearly every seat of every performance, advance tickets are strongly recommended for this hilarious, adult sketch comedy Christmas show.

The 30th Annual Bernstein Family Christmas Spectacular, directed by Katie Anne Towner, lighting design by Jason Williams, sound design by Mary Zogzas, costume design by Giny Speaks, and stage management by Justin Evans. Starring Tracey Johnston-Crum, Darren Marshall, Mondy Carter, John Crutchfield, Erik Moellering, Trinity Smith, and Glenn Reed. Produced by Chall Gray. Performances November 28-December 22. Showtimes and tickets available at www.themagneticfield.com.
