I was pleasantly surprised to see all the feedback. This was unexpected but very very cool.
And, I have recieved a lot of PM’s since I posted my message too. I had no idea that so many people were here.

I don’t know about people pooping in the middle of the sidewalks, but I’ve seen a man taking a dump behind Laurey’s Catering in that nice garden area (where they sometimes pull herbs from), and the dumpster near there is a favorite pee spot. I heard that someone once caught a couple having sex back there, too, but I don’t really have too much of a problem with that 🙂

Leave Asheville be, it is a comfortable place for all us trust fund hippies. Where else can you poop on the sidewalk.
Downtown Asheville is definitely not as clean as it should be. Many streets and especially alleyways are absolutely filthy and smell urine and vomit. Especially bad are some of the city-owned parking garages–they are both filthy and unsafe at most any hour of the day. Not too surprising give that most of downtown has been a construction zone for years with no end in sight. Rats are a problem in some of the alleyways too. Graffitti seems to be growing rapidly all over. The City government (Public Works Dept.) really needs to step it up. Tourists don’t like filth, and residents should not tolerate it either.

Hate to be gross, but not all the excrement is from the bow-wows. Human feces abounds in downtown Ashe. OK, I’ve just grossed myself out, but it’s the truth…yuck!
