Ashvegas has good-naturedly put up with a lot of you haters out there, but there’s something we’re getting sick and tired of – people thinking they know who we are. So we’ll attempt to set the record straight, and we’ll print a missive for a reader sick of being tainted with hate for Ashvegas.

We are not Melissa Williams.

For all you smarty pants out there, including Woodfin town manager Jason Young, we’ll say it again – we are not Melissa Williams. You’re sorely mistaken. Why? Perhaps because you’re looking up who has registered www.ashvegas.com, a url that is not the url for this blog. This blog’s url is www.ashevilleblog.com. Perhaps it just because you simply do not know.

To further drive the point home, we’ve included a recent email from Melissa Williams herself. She’s apparently getting pretty sick and tired of being associated with this blog. This isn’t the first note we’ve received from her, but it’s apparently gotten to the point that it’s time to clarify:

So, here goes:

For a long time I have ignored the ignorance of people who think I do this blog. I figured that eventually they’d get the hint that it’s not me. Wrong. I gave them too much credit. If you do read this blog, several clues would have told you that it’s definitely not written by a woman and that it’s definitely not written by me.

Hint: Ashvegas’ “Dad” often comments, sometimes referring to Ashvegas as “son.” Since I’m the only girl among five children in my family, he certainly can’t mean me.

Hint: Ashvegas graduated from Chapel Hill. I did not go to college in this state.

Hint: Ashvegas takes most of the photos for this blog. I don’t own a camera. I take bad photos and I take them rarely.

Hint: Ashvegas follows the Avett Brothers from show to show. I can’t name one Avett Brothers song.

Hint: Ashvegas has in the past posted pics of semi-nude women with “Your Ad Here” as the headline. I like women, but I am not turned on by women in bikinis.

Hint: Ashvegas’ favorite show is clearly Battlestar Galactica. Mine is Grey’s Anatomy, a chick show if there ever was one.

There’s so much more — but the point is, for you hardheads who can’t figure out that this blog, like most around Asheville, is written by a white man, then you must be blind. In fact, I have never even commented on it, until now.

Enough with the ignorance already.
