Here are the details. I first spotted notice of this via Mountain Xpress:

Fasten your seatbelts!
The first annual West Asheville Soap Box Derby is coming to a hill near you!

Join us Saturday September 29th from 12-5pm.
Enjoy free admission to watch the creative talents of your friends and neighbors roll down a hill… and yes, with a medic on stand-by. Better yet, build a car, race it and win prizes! Prizes given for both speed and design including a crowd favorite. The food and beer will be local and delicious. Your children will love making their own pine car and racing them down a track in the Kids Area.
