Fatal crash closes I-240 in Asheville

Looks like it could be a long day on the roads around Asheville today. From News Channel 7:

Asheville Police said there is a fatality involved in the crash. They did not release any further victim information. The roadway could be closed until 7:30 a.m. or later.

 5:00 am Update

Asheville Police said Interstate 240 Westbound at exit 8 (Fairview Road) will be closed for some time Friday morning. Officers told News Channel 7 an 18-wheeler jackknifed and is blocking the roadway.  It is not clear why the accident happened.  

Police say it could take several hours to clean up the accident, but they did not have an estimated time for reopening the roadway. They are detouring traffic off the Interstate for now.
