View from Mount Pisgah

The Western North Carolina fall color season is just beginning, so get out there and enjoy it. I couldn’t resist taking a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway Saturday. With a Carolina-blue sky and temps in the low 70s (and cooler up on the parkway), I took my time hiking up to the top of Mount Pisgah. I had forgotten how challenging that hike is in places. Steep!

Here’s my report: The color is just beginning to pop. Ray’s Weather has a good region-wide round-up of fall leaf color, which generally reports the same. Ray’s Weather reports that the peak leaf color at the highest elevations will probably occur by the end of this week. As you know, the color starts at the top of the mountains and works its way down.

Get out and enjoy it.
