Eastern Band considers funding for transportation programs

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians held a series of public hearings on Monday to talk about applying tot he N.C. Department of Transportation for funding for services to the general public, as well as to seniors and people with disabilities. The programs are called the New Freedom Program, Community Transportation Program and just “program.” Amounts to the tune of $166,384, $194,108 and $237,006 would be the funding requests.
