Dill sours on his job (psst: WLOS still needs an anchor)

The folks over at MediaChatter have an interesting tidbit about WYFF-TV news anchor Gordon Dill being oh-so-unhappy with getting knocked out of his weekday chair that he’s ready to move on.

Here’s the Mediachatter report:

After being bumped from his weekday gig and relegated to weekend duty, WYFF-TV news anchor Gordon Dill is telling friends and colleagues that it’s time to “move on.”
Dill was recently taken off the morning news desk and replaced by weekend news anchor Nigel Robertson. In the move, Dill assumed Robertson’s Saturday and Sunday duties.
Sources close to Dill claim he was less than pleased with the demotion and feels it’s time to look for other opportunities in broadcasting.
“Gordon believes he got shafted for no apparent reason,” said one colleague. “I suspect his days here are numbered.”
Newsroom insiders say Dill has already begun his search for a new assignment.
“It didn’t take Gordon long to begin putting out feelers for a new job,” said once source. “He has no intention of staying here and being management’s whipping boy.”
Dill joined WYFF in June 2000 as co-anchor of the weekday morning news. He has received numerous awards for his work, including being named South Carolina Television Reporter of the Year two years in a row by The Electronic News Association of the Carolinas (ENAC.) Gordon also received a first place award from both ENAC and the South Carolina Associated Press for his consumer report titled “A Question of Insurance.”

You call out the reporters a lot, I would like to see you tell it the way it is with all the anchors. Truth is they are all bad. But seem to have no idea how bad they are.

and for the umpteenth time: this is a blog, my blog, and I’ll write what the hell I want to write. Yeah, it’s a fucking rumor – never said it wasn’t. so what? If that’s what I want to say, I’ll say it.

You must be really short on news. What is it, are you finally tired of talking shit about Cuevas?

That mediachatter article has been on the site for months just because they don’t update the site. That whole story is a rumor started by those at mediachatter. They are in the same business as you are in, and that is making up some rumors and running with it while bashing somebody you don’t like. Kinda like killing two birds with one stone. Ya’ll would know all about that…
