Reports: Asheville Regeneration Station owner killed in motorcycle crash

Tyler Garrison, the owner of the Regeneration Station, a business that sold recycled and restored items, was reportedly killed early Sunday morning. Garrison’s friends have reported on social media that he died in a motorcycle wreck in another state.

Garrison started a business called Junk Recyclers in east Asheville in 2012. He soon began cleaning up and reselling some of the stuff he was picking up through that business under the Regeneration Station moniker. Today the business operates out of a 35,000-square-foot warehouse on Simpson Street in east Asheville. The Regeneration Station is also home to about 75 other vendors who sell their own wares. A third business, Garage TRS, sells used motorcycles out of the Regeneration Station space.

In this March 2016 interview with Asheville FM interviewer Bob Hanna, Garrison talks about moving to Asheville in 2008 and starting his recycling business with $500 and a desire to keep stuff out of the local landfill.

Condolences to his family. So sad. I met he once at his store, he gave me a beer and we talked for an hour about riding motorcycles and invited me on a ride. Sorry I did not get to know him better, he seemed like a very nice guy.

I did not know Tyler but I have shopped at the regeneration station. I am sad to hear this news. I am thinking of his girlfriend, daughter, family and the staff. I am so sorry for your loss.

My prayers are with the family! Very rare to meet a truly unique individual like Tyler. Inspiring to anybody that was around him for anytime at all. Lesson to be learned in how he treated people. Never saw him when he wasn’t really glad to see you. I last saw him at the Meltdown in Hendersonville. Will miss not seeing him again. hopefully in Heaven one of these days. Miss you old buddy!! Godspeed.
