WSPA: Medical examiner’s office says apparent drug overdoses in death of WNC couple

More information is coming in on Dr. Leslie Cargile and William Allen Cargile, Jr., the couple whose bodies were found today in Galveston, TX.

A resident of Tuxedo, N.C., Dr. Leslie Cargile practiced medicine in Black Mountain at FamilyCare Home.

The couple left their home on Saturday. On Wednesday, their son filed a missing persons report.

The bodies were found today, and according to WSPA, officials from the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office state that “it appears the husband and wife died from drug overdoses, but that can’t be officially confirmed until autopsies are performed and toxicology reports are conducted.”

The bodies of the missing family care physician from western North Carolina and her husband have been found in Texas.

Deputies from Henderson County say police in Galveston discovered the bodies of Dr. Leslie Cargile and William Allen Cargile Jr. Friday.

The Cargiles were found deceased in a Galveston hotel room where they had been checked in since August 19th, according to the Galveston County Medical Examiners Office.

Officials with the medical examiner’s office say it appears the husband and wife died from drug overdoses, but that can’t be officially confirmed until autopsies are performed and toxicology reports are conducted.

The office said a number of medicine samples — like ones received at doctors offices — were found in the hotel room.

Anyone needing records from Leslie Cargile’s medical practice should make the request in writing, and mail it to FamilyCare Home, 3164 US 70 Hwy, Black Mountain, NC, 28711.

Anyone with information on the deceased couple is asked to call the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 828-697-4911.
