At least one possible case of rubella, more commonly known as the German measles, is being reported to the Buncombe County Health Center, according to an anonymous Ashvegas source.

Rubella is a common childhood ailment, and there’s a vaccine that’s been developed to combat it. But with more and more parents refusing to vaccinate their children, we’re seeing more cases of rubella. Adults can get it, and it can make a body pretty dang sick.

Do you know of recently reported cases of rubella in Buncombe County? Tell us about it.

Thanks Miss D. The fourth word in my initial post was/is "possible", as in possible case. Yes — we don’t need an outbreak.

This is key: (From the ACT web site) The possible case may not be confirmed until the end of the week, she said.

    POSSIBLE case.

It would be nice to not have an outbreak. Hopefully this calls attention to the importance of immunizations.

And if a pregnant woman contracts rubella it can cause severe birth defects.
