cloud becomes your hand is one of my favorite bands (and some of my favorite people) from Brooklyn. Most of the guys are members of Dan Deacon’s ensemble. The music is hard to quantify without sounding ridiculous, but I’ve been saying (while blushing) that it’s kind of like synth freak folk – or something. Best to just give a listen.

Great Architect is an awesome free-punk band from Charlotte. I think they’ve played in Asheville numerous times.  Again, to give a semi-trite quantification of their music, to me it sounds a bit like Ethiopiques meets punk rock. And once again, maybe listening would be a better idea.

emilys is a new project of mine, focusing mostly on setting the poetry of Emily Dickinson to live electroacoustic soundscapes. It’s not really like anything I’ve done before, aside from some sound installations in Chicago & Brooklyn, but if you want to know more about me, look here.
